Who we are

ksquareinstitute.com (“Ksquare Study”, “we”, “this site”) is a free NEET and JEE question bank operated by Ksquare Career Institute, Ksquare Building, Kodigehalli, Bangalore – 560067, Karnataka, India.

We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described below, within the meaning of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Our coaching business runs on a separate website, ksquareinstitute.in, under a separate privacy policy. Enquiries you submit there are governed by that policy, not this one.

What we collect

Only what the site needs to work. There is no data broker relationship, and we sell nothing.

DataWhenWhy
NameYou registerTo address you in the interface
Email addressYou registerLogin, password reset, essential account notices
PasswordYou registerStored only as a one-way hash. We cannot read it
Target exam and classYou register, or edit laterTo show relevant chapters first
Attempt recordsYou practise or take a test while signed inYour history, accuracy and weak-chapter analysis
Display nameYou opt in to the leaderboardShown publicly on the leaderboard. Off by default
Batch codeYou join a Ksquare batchSo your teacher can see your progress in that batch
Server logsEvery requestSecurity and diagnostics, held by our host

We do not ask for your phone number, address, date of birth, exam roll number, marks, or any government identifier, and you should not send them to us.

Practising without an account

You can solve questions, take mock tests and read notes without registering. In that case your recent attempts are stored in your own browser, on your device, and are not sent to us as identifiable data. Clearing your browser storage erases them, and we cannot recover them.

Guest attempts are not linked to a person. If you later create an account, guest history from before that point does not carry over.

Why we use it

  • To run your account — signing in, resetting a password, keeping you signed in.
  • To show your progress — attempt history, accuracy per chapter, and which chapters you lose marks in.
  • To keep the site working — diagnosing errors, blocking abuse, protecting against spam.
  • To improve the question bank — aggregate, non-identifying patterns, such as a question a large number of students get wrong, which often means the question or its solution needs review.

We do not profile you for advertising, and we do not use your attempt data to target you with coaching offers.

Reporting a question

Every question carries a Report a problem link. Reporting works without an account and is deliberately minimal.

We store: which question was reported, and the short message you wrote (plain text, capped in length).

We do not store your IP address. A salted, one-way hash of it is kept purely to stop the same person filing the same report repeatedly. The hash cannot be reversed into an address, and it is not used to identify or track you.

If you are signed in when you report, the report is associated with your account so we can tell you the outcome. If you are not, it is anonymous.

Cookies and tracking

  • Session cookies set by WordPress when you sign in. Without these you cannot stay signed in.
  • Caching cookies set by our page cache to serve the right version of a page to signed-in and signed-out visitors.
  • Local browser storage used to remember guest attempts on your device, as described above.
  • Analytics, if enabled, to count visits and see which pages are used. Configured to avoid identifying individuals.

We do not run advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before it happens, not after.

Third parties

Data is processed by a small number of providers who make the site run:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores the database and server logs on our behalf.
  • Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when a font file loads. We intend to self-host these fonts, which removes that request entirely.
  • Google Analytics, if enabled, for aggregate usage statistics.
  • Email delivery, for password resets and account notices.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We disclose it only where the law requires us to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse of the platform.

How long we keep it

  • Account data — until you delete your account, or ask us to delete it.
  • Attempt records — for as long as the account exists, since their whole purpose is long-term progress. Deleting your account deletes them.
  • Question reports — retained after resolution, because the record of what was wrong with a question is part of maintaining the bank. They contain no identifying data once detached from an account.
  • Server logs — rotated by our host on their schedule, typically within a few weeks.

Students under 18

Many of the students this site is built for are minors, and we take that seriously.

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, processing a child’s personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian read this policy and agree before you create an account. By registering, you confirm that this consent has been given.

A parent or guardian may ask us at any time to show, correct or delete a child’s data, using the contact details below. We do not use a child’s data for tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising of any kind.

You do not need an account to use the question bank. A student under 18 who would rather not register can practise as a guest with nothing stored on our servers.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal data we hold about you, and a summary of how it is processed.
  • Correct anything inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Most of it you can edit yourself in your account.
  • Erase your account and the data attached to it.
  • Withdraw consent for anything you previously agreed to.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you become unable to.

Write to the address in the last section. We will respond within a reasonable period and, other than confirming who you are, will not make you justify the request.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes. Access to the database is limited to the people who maintain the platform.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change materially affects how your data is used, we will say so on the site rather than relying on you to notice.

Grievance officer

Questions, requests and complaints about personal data go to the grievance officer for Ksquare Career Institute:
