Ground tissue includes

Ground tissue includes
A All tissues internal to endodermis
B All tissues external to endodermis
C All tissues except epidermis and vascular bundles
D Epidermis and cortex

Detailed Solution

On the basis of structure and location there are three tissue systems: the epidermal tissue system, the ground (fundamental) tissue system and the vascular tissue system.
NCERT defines the ground tissue as all tissues except the epidermis and the vascular bundles.
It consists of simple tissues such as parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma, and includes the cortex, endodermis, pericycle, pith and medullary rays; in leaves it is the mesophyll.
It therefore lies both outside and inside the endodermis, and it does not include the epidermis.
Hence ground tissue includes all tissues except epidermis and vascular bundles.
