Detailed Solution

Peptide (protein) synthesis is the process of translation, in which amino acids are joined by peptide bonds according to the sequence of mRNA.
Translation takes place on ribosomes, which are the cellular factories of protein synthesis.
The peptide bond is formed by the peptidyl transferase activity of the large subunit of the ribosome.
Chloroplasts and mitochondria can make some of their proteins only because they contain their own ribosomes, so the actual site is still the ribosome; chromoplasts only store pigments.
Hence peptide synthesis takes place in ribosomes.
