Injury to adrenal cortex is not likely to affect the secretion of which one of the following?
A Cortisol
B Aldosterone
C Both Androstenedione and Dehydroepiandrosterone
D Adrenaline

Detailed Solution

The adrenal gland has two parts: the outer adrenal cortex and the central adrenal medulla.
The adrenal cortex secretes corticoids: glucocorticoids (mainly cortisol), mineralocorticoids (mainly aldosterone) and small amounts of androgenic steroids (androstenedione, dehydroepiandrosterone).
The adrenal medulla secretes the catecholamines adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine).
So an injury to the cortex affects cortisol, aldosterone and the androgens, but not adrenaline.
Hence the secretion of adrenaline is not likely to be affected.
