Nucleotides are building blocks of nucleic acids. Each nucleotide is a composite molecule formed by -
A Base-sugar-OH
B Base-sugar-phosphate
C Sugar-phosphate
D (Base-sugar-phosphate)n

Detailed Solution

A nucleotide has three components: a nitrogenous base, a pentose sugar and a phosphate group.
The nitrogenous base is linked to the 1' carbon of the pentose sugar by an N-glycosidic bond to form a nucleoside.
A phosphate group is linked to the 5'-OH of the sugar of the nucleoside by a phosphoester bond to form a nucleotide.
So a nucleotide = base + sugar + phosphate.
Base + sugar alone is a nucleoside, sugar + phosphate lacks the base, and (base-sugar-phosphate)n represents a polynucleotide (nucleic acid), not a single nucleotide.
So each nucleotide is formed by base-sugar-phosphate.
