Geological Time Scale and Human Evolution
-
Homo sapiens have evolved in :The Pleistocene epoch (about 2.6 million to 11,700 years ago) of the Quaternary period is the 'age of man'.
During this epoch, the genus Homo evolved, and modern humans (Homo sapiens) appeared in Africa about 200,000–300,000 years ago.
The Paleocene, Oligocene and Miocene are earlier epochs of the Tertiary period, when early mammals and apes evolved.
So Homo sapiens evolved in the Pleistocene.
