Sertoli cells are found in
A
Pancreas and secrete cholecystokinin
B
Ovaries and secrete progesterone
C
Adrenal cortex and secrete adrenaline
D
Seminiferous tubules and provide nutrition to germ cells
Detailed Solution
Each seminiferous tubule of the testis is lined on its inside by two types of cells: male germ cells (spermatogonia) and Sertoli cells.
Sertoli cells provide nutrition to the germ cells; the sperm heads become embedded in them after spermiogenesis, and they also secrete factors that help in spermiogenesis under the influence of FSH.
The regions outside the tubules contain the interstitial (Leydig) cells, which secrete androgens.
Cholecystokinin is secreted by the duodenal mucosa, progesterone by the corpus luteum and adrenaline by the adrenal medulla.
Hence Sertoli cells are found in seminiferous tubules and provide nutrition to germ cells.
