Juicy hair-like structures observed in the lemon fruit develop from : -The lemon (like orange) is a special type of berry called a hesperidium, developing from a multicarpellary, syncarpous superior ovary.
Its pericarp has three parts: the outer glandular epicarp (rind with oil glands), a white spongy mesocarp, and a thin membranous endocarp lining the chambers (segments).
Juicy, hair-like outgrowths (juice sacs) arise from the inner surface of the endocarp and fill the chambers. These are the edible part.
So the juicy hairs develop from the endocarp.
