2019 Current ElectricityIdeal Voltmeter and Ammeter in Circuits Hard Question 50 of 130 in Current Electricity

In the circuits shown below, the readings of the voltmeters and the ammeters will be:

A $V_2>V_1$ and $i_1=i_2$
B $V_1=V_2$ and $i_1>i_2$
C $V_1=V_2$ and $i_1=i_2$
D $V_2>V_1$ and $i_1>i_2$

The answer is C.

Solution

For an ideal voltmeter the resistance is infinite and for an ideal ammeter the resistance is zero.
$i_1=i_2=\frac{10\ V}{10\ \Omega}=1\ A$
$V_1=i_1\times10=10\ V$, $V_2=i_2\times10=10\ V$
So $V_1=V_2$ and $i_1=i_2$.
