Nickel shows ferromagnetic property at room temperature. If the temperature is increased beyond Curie temperature, then it will show
A anti ferromagnetism
B no magnetic property
C diamagnetism
D paramagnetism

Detailed Solution

In a ferromagnetic material such as nickel the atomic magnetic moments are aligned parallel to each other within domains.
On heating, thermal agitation disturbs this alignment.
Beyond the Curie temperature the domain structure breaks down completely and the atomic moments become randomly oriented.
The atoms still have permanent magnetic moments, which align weakly in an applied field.
So beyond the Curie temperature a ferromagnetic substance behaves like a paramagnetic substance.
Hence nickel will show paramagnetism.
