Carbohydrates, the most abundant biomolecules on earth, are produced by -Carbohydrates are produced by photosynthesis, in which light energy is used to convert $CO_2$ and water into sugars.
Photosynthesis is carried out by green plant cells, algae and some bacteria (photosynthetic bacteria such as cyanobacteria and purple and green sulphur bacteria).
Some other bacteria (chemoautotrophs) also fix $CO_2$ into carbohydrates using chemical energy.
Fungi are heterotrophs; they cannot synthesise carbohydrates from $CO_2$ and depend on organic matter.
Not all bacteria are autotrophs, and viruses have no metabolism of their own.
So carbohydrates are produced by some bacteria, algae and green plant cells.
