Conifers differ from grasses in the -Conifers are gymnosperms and grasses are angiosperms (monocots).
In gymnosperms the endosperm is the female gametophyte itself; it is haploid (n) and is formed before fertilisation.
In angiosperms the endosperm is formed after fertilisation, as a result of triple fusion, and it is triploid (3n).
So conifers differ from grasses in the formation of endosperm before fertilisation.
Both groups produce seeds from ovules.
Both have xylem tracheids (conifers have only tracheids; grasses have vessels as well).
Both form pollen tubes to carry the male gametes (siphonogamy).
So the difference lies in the formation of endosperm before fertilization.
