Introduction of food plants developed by genetic engineering is not desirable because -
A Economy of developing countries may suffer
B These products are less tasty as compared to the already existing products
C This method is costly
D There is danger of coming viruses, allergens and toxins with introduced crop

Detailed Solution

Genetically modified (GM) food crops raise biosafety concerns.
The introduced genes or their products may cause allergic reactions or be toxic to humans and animals; viral sequences used in vectors or promoters could give rise to new viruses; and genes may spread to wild relatives.
So there is a danger of viruses, allergens and toxins coming with the introduced crop. This is why GM crops are tested and regulated (in India by GEAC).
So introduction of genetically engineered food plants is considered not desirable because of the danger of viruses, allergens and toxins.
