The supportive skeletal structures in the human external ears and in the nose tip are examples ofCartilage is a specialised connective tissue with a solid but pliable matrix that resists compression; its cells (chondrocytes) lie in small cavities within the matrix.
In adults, cartilage is present in the tip of the nose, the outer ear (pinna), the joints, between adjacent vertebrae and in the limbs and hands.
It gives these parts support together with flexibility.
A ligament joins bone to bone, areolar tissue is a loose packing tissue beneath the skin, and bone is hard and non-pliable, so none of them forms the ear pinna or the nose tip.
Hence these structures are examples of cartilage.
