In case of a forced vibration, the resonance wave becomes very sharp when the :In forced oscillations, the amplitude becomes maximum when the driving frequency equals the natural frequency (resonance).
The amplitude at resonance is limited only by damping: smaller damping gives a much larger amplitude at resonance, and the amplitude falls off quickly when the frequency moves away from resonance.
So the resonance curve becomes very sharp (narrow and tall) when the damping force is small (negligible).
The sharpness is measured by the quality factor Q; a sharp resonance means a large (not small) Q.
So the resonance becomes very sharp when the damping force is small.
